I’m preparing for a few weeks for an event that I’m currently out of town because I haven’t posted yet. Today, I’m going to post some simple fun stuff. My small house plan!
I made these in Icovia’s The Make Room online software and made a few adjustments/changes in Photoshop and SketchUp. I’m new to Icovia but I’ve learned to use the program quickly and enjoy 2D graphics a little more than SketchUp. I will go 3d with these plans soon. Icovia is free, you can save multiple layouts, group components and copy/rename docs to create multiple versions easily.

I wanted to sleep well with a few guests without feeling homesick when I woke up alone in my little room. As you can see, I have a queen mattress in the bedroom (2), I have a convertible sofa (2) and the second loft above the front porch is an obvious storage space. and large enough to be a good sleeper/reader (1) . I really think that this will be my favorite place at home and I plan to make the window to get full access to the view from there. For a convertible sofa, I couldn’t find anything that fit my criteria: only 30 “deep, 70” wide and a style that I liked, I thought I’d make my own. I have completed a simple design that I want to learn how to sew (LOL) on two layers of fabric. When installed, it will be about 3 inches long of a queen size bed…not great!
Tall countertops (36-37″) are easy on my back and my family’s. I’m 5’6″ but I’m the tallest person in my family (except my grandmother). So that’s a necessity and a real gift because then I can pack a 20-inch fridge cube and a 15.5-inch oven with a hot plate on top and be able to cover this area when I’m not use my hot plate and use this. its like countertop prep space.
My one concern is creating enough space between the fridge & oven for ventilation. The oven legs give about 2 centimeters as it is and I can add a little more. As for the sink, I’m thinking of a flat double sink turned sideways. The back basin will be a dry/storage bed for dishes. I plan that I can fold the faucet to extend from the wall as against the counter and cover this can also be countertop prep space.

You can’t see this in these 2D designs but there is a bookcase on the wall between the kitchen and the living room and the bookcase is only 36-48″ high. When my friends and I get together at someone’s place , we cook together, I feel like I want to keep this area to encourage conversation between the two spaces. And with the TV arm up, I can watch the screen while I cook .The storage unit next to the bed/bedroom goes all the way up to the roof and can double as a shelf if I use mine to move around the house. the top of the second.
Fencl’s version has this both in parts. I plan to have my own completely. I got an idea from Johnathen to put my electric box here and still have a lot of space for hanging out there, for plants or indoor plants, storage or just a shelf for some things that not important but great: sculptures, guitars, and anything else I like to look at every day but don’t really use.
I spend a lot of time looking for decor and accessories and really laying everything out. I’m calling for money, materials and work space to build and in the meantime, I’m having the time of my life being creative and using space…fun.
