Southern Living House Plans With 2 Master Suites – Duplex (SL 2014) by Moser Design Group for Southern Living! The plan is a duplex (two residences) – each 1,055 square feet with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. I like the idea of this duplex. It provides privacy (separate porch and front entries). This plan is perfect for living on one side and renting out the other, or for your parents, siblings, friends etc. , That way each of you has your place but are there for each other. I love this concept!
It doesn’t look like a typical duplex with two front doors next to each other. I like that you really only see one front door from the street, it gives the duplex the feel of a big house – yet inside, it’s perfectly designed to maximize space, yet it’s not a big deal. is right next to the person!
Southern Living House Plans With 2 Master Suites
As I mentioned each duplex is 1,055 square feet of perfection. You have the option of entering from the front, which is private, or from the front. It is like two separate spaces divided by a hallway with a terrace covering both. I think it’s a great plan. Gone are the days of hearing your neighbor breathe, ha ha.

Each duplex has an open living/kitchen area, a utility room, a master suite, a guest room, another bathroom and a side stoop. This setting could be great for so many people! We need to build more of these and keep the #keepfamilies together

It does me. I would love to be on it now! The lines are beautiful. It looks so wide. Just wait till you take a look inside! #itsabeauty

First, the fact that it has a wonderful front porch and an outdoor living area with a big screen are two big bonuses! You enter the foyer as soon as you walk in. The foyer is open to the meeting room – what a huge space! To the left of this plan is the everyday dining area – I love that, I’m not a person with a big formal dining room, a dining room that can be used daily – where it can be made comfortable and is useful! The dining area opens to the luxurious kitchen – and what a kitchen it is! There is a back kitchen beyond the kitchen, I liked the idea. A kitchen that probably doesn’t quite get noticed? A great place to store/use equipment like mixers etc. Also note the great walk in the pantry! *Swoon* There is also a laundry area and a half bath.
Outside the meeting room there is a spacious area with stairs on one side and the entrance to the master suite on the other.
The outside porch area is exquisite and note that it also has a fireplace! Can you imagine gathering on your back porch using a wonderful fireplace to make delicious and spend the evening – sounds like a dream, doesn’t it?

There’s a storage space above the Lowcountry farmhouse (woot woot!), the two-bedroom suites each with bathrooms and walk in closets. What more could you ask for?

Plans that provide space, privacy, time together, and space for outdoor spaces. This house plan leaves a mark in each of these areas. It’s got serious charm to boot!
This is the Magnolia Cottage House plan by John T (architect) for Southern Living! The plan is 1,776 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, not to mention the front and back porches!
I love how this plan keeps the master suite private and on one side of the house while the other two bedrooms are on the opposite side. The living spaces are located in the center of this house. A good sized family room and an open dining/kitchen area.

This plan includes great storage space, a walk in closet in the master and a pantry in the kitchen! I also love that the washer and dryer are located close by, just outside the master bedroom! This is a great plan with the option of being on the second floor or the perfect first floor (see Optional Staircase). Nice option! It has great curb appeal as well as wonderful outdoor living space!

Allegedly, I snore… but other than that, I’ve been known to hide from killers (in our bedroom – 3:00 a.m.) and once, I nearly broke my leg while kicking an attacking goose. broke (in our bedroom – at about the same hour of the night). Truth be told, I remember moving a really heavy potted plant from the nightstand to the edge of his bed, on my side – on top of his sleeping head, while on my knees, barely keeping my balance and my grip. (What could have gone wrong?) So, with people like me in mind, let’s take a look at something that’s a growing trend in home design – incorporating two master bedrooms on the floor plan.
House Plans With Two Master Suites From Architectural Designs
Until recently, the concept of two master suites in one home was rare—or at least, it was rarely suggested—due to the stigma attached to the implication of couples not sharing the same bedroom. But the reality is that more and more homeowners are looking for home plans that include two master bedrooms – and for many good reasons.
Of course, there is always the above issue of snoring. His snoring his snoring. Or perhaps, mutual snoring, celebrated in celebration of nocturnal snoring. In any case, listening to one’s snoring can destroy (or, so I’m told) hopes of a good night’s sleep, and separate master suites may provide the ultimate solution for that particular problem. (…a solution that is much more socially acceptable than murder)
Beyond snoring, however, the reality is that as Baby Boomers move into their 60s and 70s, multi-generational families are becoming more and more common. The second master suite may provide a greater sense of personal space and independence for aging parents of boomers when retirement home options are not desired or viable. Likewise, a second master provides a more comfortable space for the homeowners’ boomerang children who may be “back in the nest” for whatever reason.
Barn Plan: 2,752 Square Feet, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms
Another reason for considering a second master may be the accommodation of a couple with different and/or demanding work schedules. An early departure of a spouse or coming home late due to work can cause major disruption, and at some point, it is bound to create friction in the relationship.
Additionally, some homeowners often host out-of-town visitors and want to provide their temporary guests with a real feeling of home away from home – a sleeping space that is more comfortable than a “spare bedroom”.
Here at Advanced House Plans, we present several existing designs that have two master bedrooms. However, all of our house plans can be adapted to accommodate another master in some way based on the original design of the house. For example, you may wish to have two masters at the same level, or one at the main level and the other at the top, or lower level. Perhaps you need a second master that has its own entrance from the outside – a feature that is especially appreciated by those seeking a sense of independence, such as an in-law or an adult child.

Whatever the reasons for adding a second master suite to the home, this design trend is here to stay, and it is likely to become more and more common as the population ages. The associated stigma of having a “broken marital relationship” is on its way out – replaced by practical, realistic and intelligent design ideas instead.
As far as I’m concerned, I’m hoping that my wife will learn to sleep through my killer attacks, goose attacks and houseplant relocations at night. (And I’ll have to remember to remind him… murder is not a socially acceptable option.)
If there is anything to be said about 2022, it is that this year has been a rollercoaster in the real estate world. Fluctuating interest rates, housing shortages, and fluctuating lumber prices have made the homebuilding journey
