This plan is part of a collection of ecological house plans and therefore has a better energy efficient wall composition. To ensure better insulation for each of our eco-friendly homes, the walls are constructed of double 2×4 framing spaced 24 inches apart. So the amount of lumber needed is similar to that of a traditional house using 2x6s every 16 inches. In addition, these two walls are lined to cut thermal bridges as much as possible, i.e. permanent elements that create heat losses from the inside to the outside of the house. The insulation material used in this wall insulation is squirt cellulose. It is a 100% recycled material that perfectly hugs every wall cavity for optimal insulation. It is designed to blend in with its surroundings and become part of the landscape. But apart from its creative design, it is packed with features that are essential for today’s lifestyle. Artistic use of stone was used on the exterior of this hillside farmhouse to complement other architectural elements such as the large, angled four-car garage and dramatic roofline.
