Narrow Lot Lake House Plans – Located on a lake in Seattle, Washington and overlooking Mount Rainier, the owners of The Courtyard House turned to DeForest Architects with a brief to design and build their dream home, incorporating a West Coast indoor outdoor lifestyle of warm and natural materials. The site is narrow and nestled between a private lane and the lake, making it difficult to ensure views that offer the homeowners as much privacy as possible. The architects proposed to create a social space on the ground floor that opens wide to the private courtyard of the waterfront entertainment areas. This is achieved through the use of a steel frame that supports large panes of glass that can be fully opened to seamlessly transition from the interior to the exterior areas.
Whether relaxing in the indoor living room or relaxing on the terrace, the panoramic views of the lake are enhanced by the landscape, especially the large and curved branches of the oak. Enhance this natural look by choosing a laser-cut area rug with free-flowing abstract lines that mimic the contours of an oak tree.

Following a brief to the clients on a west coast aesthetic, the architects chose a light and warm weathered limestone floor consisting of 12″x24″ tiles laid in a subway pattern to balance the linear lines of the slightly darker spruce ceiling. A stunning oak veneer fireplace detail adds an extra layer of geometric pattern, as does an open lift staircase. Next to the fireplace is the dining room with warm wood tones, and in front of it is the kitchen with light wood tones.

The kitchen is neither an open floor plan nor a closed one, but while most homes use a standard island as a dividing space, DeForest Architects chose instead to feature an island in the center of the workstation with an opening large enough for three people at one end. comfortable bar stools. The light oak tones of the cabinets run through the surface of the refrigerator, and the bar area has glass doors on both upper cabinets and lower coolers.
The staircase leading to the upper volume gives it an outdoor feel – even when the glass is closed. This is partly due to the wooden floor line that matches the deck, creating an intermediate zone between the outside and the inside. The kitchen, dining and living areas can be easily enjoyed through walls of glass that run the length of the staircase with open lifts.
Stairs lead to the garden or to the upper floor corridor which overlooks the lower level. Creative channel glass details are used on the top of the panes to allow light into the home, while maintaining complete privacy from the neighbors. Adding to the visual interest, appearance, and architecture of channel glass is the choice of light pendants with the appearance of crystals floating in the air.

The views on the upper floor are carefully constructed landscape images that preserve the view of the surroundings. To this, layered channel glass and lighting create a tranquil, zen-like vibe.
The upstairs master bedroom has everything the homeowners could want. Indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy the expansive views. A raised fireplace for entertaining and a TV set quietly next to the TV in the niche created by the fireplace facade.
The master bedroom suite is filled with natural light through a wall of channel glass in the large walk in shower. Frosted and clear glass panels on the shower’s inner panels allow light to stream through the windows, through the shower and into the rest of the bathroom, while the Christmas tree continuation on the ceilings keeps the room warm and spa-like.

The courtyard house has a total of four bedrooms and each overlooks the lake for panoramic views that can be enjoyed from the four bedroom terraces. Each bedroom has a guest bath with floor-to-ceiling lighting and spruce ceilings for a spa aesthetic.
Through the clear glass of the shower, the guest bath reveals its exquisite cylindrical elegance for a moment of simple elegance.
